Event descriptionDesigned for home gardeners, this series of workshops will cover the basics of propagation, including stem cuttings and seed sowing, as well as an in-depth exploration of soil health and the fascinating world of soil microbes.
Stem Cuttings - May 3
You will learn how to identify the best plant material for cutting, techniques to increase your strike rate and how to best care for your new plants.
· A beautiful range of rare and unusual plants provided for propagation
· Take home your cuttings, expand your plant collection!
Seed Sowing - June 7
As well as learning all of the various methods of seed sowing, including how to break dormancy and encourage germination, you will be provided with advanced seedlings to practice “pricking out” into pots.
· Seasonal flowering perennials, herbs and vegetable seeds provided
· Take home your sown seeds and potted up seedlings
Soil Health - July 5
Explore the fascinating world of soil and discover its pivotal role in plant health. Learn about soil structure, texture and microbial life through this hands-on workshop.
· Bring in a sample of your own soil for analysis and advice
· Learn simple, effective strategies to improve your soil at home
Each workshop is $50, or $120 if you sign up for all three.
Workshops are in the Warrapurra Hall on Saturday mornings at the CNC
Our tutor Janie is a qualified horticulturist who is excited to share all of the tips and tricks of the trade learned over many years of propagating plants for her nursery.
