About this Event
We will be coppicing hazel, sorting and stacking wood for charcoal, stakes and weavers, creating a dead hedge to protect the copse from deer and making charcoal.
There are a variety of tasks for all abilities.
Do wear weather appropriate clothes, layers are good as we can get warm when we work even if it is cool. Waterproofs if necessary and sturdy footwear is essential. Something to sit on (plastic sheet, sit mat, etc). please bring work gloves if you have any.
Please bring plenty of water to drink, a packed lunch and a flask.
The site is just south of Horsley village which can be found just off the A69, west of Heddon on the Wall.
Horsley Wood can be found at the bottom of Mill Way which is in Horsley village, next to a converted chapel.
We will send you more detailed site and transport information on booking.
There are no facilities on site, but there is a pub (Lion and Lamb) and a café (The Hearth) at the top of the road – and plenty of woodland.
