Horntet is a democratic jazz collective made up of outstanding and some of the mostpromising young-generation Polish jazz musicians. Nominated for the Fryderyk Award 2024,
winners of nearly all major jazz competitions in Poland (including Jazz nad Odrą 2022 and
Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa 2022), and second prize winners at the prestigious European
Young Artists’ Jazz Award in Burghausen 2024, the band has been repeatedly recognized by
music critics and journalists both in Poland and abroad.
Since 2019, when the band was founded on the initiative of pianist Bartłomiej Leśniak, the
musicians have consistently developed their own distinctive and recognizable collective style
based on original compositions—a blend of jazz mainstream, free music, and contemporary
classical music, while retaining a Slavic common denominator that continues the tradition
known as Polish Jazz. In 2023, confident in the direction they had chosen, the band released
their debut album Horntet (Jazz Top 2023 – 4th place in the Album of the Year category
according to Jazz Forum readers).
During the concert, Horntet will premiere material from their second album, Direct Message,
to be released in Autumn 2025 by For Tune. This is more than a continuation of the debut—it
is a coherent, mature program full of energy, expressing the band’s character even more
strongly. Direct Message is a clear statement—a direct message that Horntet addresses to
each listener, fully aware of what it wants to say.
Band lineup:
Szymon Ziółkowski – alto and soprano saxophone
Bartłomiej Leśniak – piano
Mikołaj Sikora – double bass
Piotr Przewoźniak – drums
