Horizon Ensemble: Rediscoveries

"The moments of the past do not remain still..."

As the summer season wanes, let's open the Horizon Ensemble's fifth concert season with Rediscoveries! In this season opener, we rediscover images and melodies of the past, combined with modern styles and perspectives. Join us on Saturday, September 20 at 3:00 PM in the Church of the Covenant in Back Bay for a colorful, storied concert together.

We begin with the Overture to The Anonymous Lover by Joseph Bologne, a swordfighting, violin-shredding composer of 18th-century France. Next, our friend Tomer Rozen's Comedy mixes old musical aesthetics with wacky new rhythms & harmonies. The bright-eyed Piano Concerto of Germaine Tailleferre dazzles and dances, featuring pianist Yuseok Seol. We finish with the momentous Organ Symphony by Camille Saint-Saëns, featuring the Church of the Covenant's historic 3,530-pipe organ!

This is a pay-what-you-can concert, with suggested donation of $20. We will collect donations in person at the concert, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble. This concert is wheelchair-accessible. No bright or flashing lights are allowed at this event. Pre-registrations close at 11:00 AM on the day of the concert, but you can still walk into the concert and sign in at the venue. See you soon!
