About this Event
Join the Front Porch Band for a laid-back, rootsy, acoustic take on classic blues, jazz, country and soul.
Just come and watch, or learn to dance to blues. We’ll start with an hours beginner-friendly dance class at 7:30pm, followed by social dancing till midnight. Band at 9pm.
Blues dancing developed alongside blues music. The class is open to all levels and is suitable for those who have never danced blues before. We dance because it is fun, and it’s sociable and because music and movement is good for our hearts and our minds. What is blues dancing? Blues dancing comes from the same tradition as blues music. It is an improvised, partner dance, which has a relaxed, grounded feel.
You'll find us upstairs at the Prohibition. Doors open at 7:15pm
Book here or £10 on the door.
Come on your own or with friends. No dance experience needed.
Getting there:
It’s super easy by public transport as it’s very close to Newcastle train station.
If coming by car, I suggest parking at the bottom of Westgate Rd (NE4 6AA) as it's free, not far from the venue, and a group of us can walk together to our cars at the end of the night.
