The "Royal Call" from Britain, requesting support from countries within the British Empire, was issued when war was declared. Many individuals from Commonwealth nations volunteered to serve Britain during both WWI and WWII. The "Honouring Our Heroes" exhibition will feature several artworks by local artist Jacqui Cooke, highlighting the commitment and sacrifices of Veterans of African Descent and First Nations individuals. Each piece serves as a testament to their remarkable achievements, with some being recognised as the most decorated for their service. Despite facing significant adversity, many displayed exceptional courage and resilience, rising to the ranks of Officer and surpassing all expectations. This exhibition provides an opportunity for those unfamiliar with the contributions of individuals of African descent and First Nations to both world wars to gain insight into the lives and characters of some of the most courageous, resilient, and conscientious people in history.
