The annual event commemorates when the civil rights activist refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus. Her actions sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and helped fuel the Civil Rights Movement and the end of racial segregation.
