About this Event
Honoring Dr. Habeeb: A Community Gathering for Somali Mental-Health Providers & Community Members
Join us for a special evening as we welcome Dr. Habeeb (Abdirahman Ali Awal)—a pioneer of Somali mental health, global advocate for healing, and the visionary behind the largest mental-health care network in Somalia.
Fresh off receiving a Best Humanitarian Award (to be presented on 12/20/25), Dr. Habeeb is visiting Minnesota to connect with the Somali mental-health community and the wider Somali community, share his wisdom, and engage in meaningful conversation.
For nearly two decades, Dr. Habeeb has led transformative work in Somalia—supporting individuals in profound psychological distress, reducing stigma, expanding access to care, and uplifting vulnerable children, women, youth, and elders. His compassion and service have made him a symbol of hope for Somalis around the world.
This gathering is a unique chance for Somali American mental-health providers and community members to learn from his experiences, ask questions, honor his contributions, and explore opportunities for collaboration and support.
Why Attend?
- Connect with Dr. Habeeb in an intimate, community-centered setting
- Celebrate a historic moment for Somali mental-health leadership
