At the Semi-Annual General Meeting this past October, a committee of past presidents submitted the nomination of Ron Hutton to be recognized as an Honorary Member of Carleton Curling Club and was approved by the membership. Please join us for a delicious Roast Pork dinner on CURLING DAY IN CANADA as we honour Ron’s long-time service and commitment to Carleton Curling Club.

Some of his most recent contributions as House Chair include:
• Leading the initiative for the purchase of our new rocks in 2019 (including securing funds from RDC)
• Leading the roof project (coordinating the RFP, securing more funding from RDC)
• Initiating and leading improvements to our kitchen, including updating the fire, health & safety protocols, and supplementing income with new rentals
• Ongoing updates and maintenance to the building
As well, Ron has been recognized in the past for his contribution to curling overall:
• Inducted into the Curling Canada Hall of Fame in 2014;
• Inducted into the Saint John Sports hall of Fame in 2019;
• Inducted into the Curling NB Hall of Fame in 2022;
• Board of Governors, Chair for Curling Canada (2013-2014);
• Past President of NB Curling;
• Past president of Curl Atlantic;
• Served on the board of Canadian Curling Association;
• He played in men’s and junior championships at the local, regional, and provincial levels;
• He has dedicated many hours as an organizer for several championships, including the 1985 Canadian mixed and the 2009 Ford World Men’s;
• Honorary Life Member of the NB Curling Association;
• Awarded the 2005 Member of the Governor General's Curling Club of Canada.
