Honor a Woman 2025
Zonta of the Marquette Area is proud to honor women in our community who have mentored, supported, inspired, and nurtured others to make our community stronger. Honor a Woman celebrates these women for all of their special contributions. Join us with Phyllis Michael Wong, author of “We Kept our Towns Going: The Gossard Girls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula” who will share some amazing stories from her book about local women who worked in the corsets and bra factories in Ishpeming and Gwinn from the early twentieth century to the 1970s. Wong has held roles as a historian, an educator, and thirty-year member of the university level academic world, including First Lady at Northern Michigan University and San Francisco State University.
