Italian imprint Opilec Music and It’s founder I-Robots presents a new release this September, entitled ‘Dimah’ and coming courtesy of Hong Kong’s Ocean Lam and Ukrainian artist Andrey Sirotkin.
Ocean Lam has become a figurehead for the Hong Kong underground over the past decade as well as further afield throughout Asia and Europe, DJing at notable festivals and clubs like Sonar Hong Kong, Wilde Möhre and Club Der Visionaere, this latest release adds to Ocean’s growing catalogue which has seen her release on Detroit’s Moteur Ville Musique and Germany’s Biotop. Here, Ocean joins forces with Kyiv’s Andrey Sirotkin, founder of Vyrii Records, global DJ since 2004 and a regular at many of the Ukrainian capital’s leading nightclubs. The package is presented on Opilec Music by its leading man, I-Robots who is a friend of Ocean and has played her parties in Hong Kong several times and heard the initial demo when Ocean was in Turin in April of 2023, soon after this release was born...
Leading is the ‘I-Robots Edit’ of ‘Dimah’, a subtly unfurling journey through a gritty bass line, textural atmospherics, dubbed out stab sequences and crunchy drums. The ‘I-Robots Extended Reconstruction’ follows and takes thing down a more loop-led route via circling bass flutters, crisp 4/4 drums, dub reggae chants and ever unfolding, fluctuating dub delays throughout, a ‘Dub Reconstruction’ follows this, as the name would suggest laying focus solely on the raw groove.
Following next is the ‘Reconstruction Take 1’, a more tension led interpretation fuelled by howling textural I-Robots presents: Ocean Lam & Andrey Sirotkin - Dimah synths, robust upfront drums and the compositions driving bass line before ‘Reconstruction Take 2’ eases in an amalgamation of new resonant chords and dubbed out effects across its nine-minute duration. A ‘Dub Reconstruction’ version then rounds out the release.

Ocean Lam ha costruito e coltivato con grinta e passione per più di un decennio la scena underground e la musica che ama a Hong Kong. Il suo suono è atmosferico, spostando stati d'animo ed energie in qualsiasi modo ritenga opportuno.
Ocean ha suonato in alcuni importanti festival e club underground in Asia, Epizode, Wonderfruit, Intro e Sonar HK e in Germania Melt and Feel Festival. È stata scelta per rappresentare Hong Kong alla sua prima edizione live di Boiler Room al festival Shi Fu Miz. Ha suonato regolarmente a Berlino, Milano come il suo tour annuale in Europa suonando con artisti internazionali e serate di etichette.
Leader della crescente scena musicale elettronica di Hong Kong e anticonformista femminile di lunga data nella scena asiatica generale, è stata co-fondatrice e direttrice musicale del club Social Room di Hong Kong per 6 anni. I suoi eventi hanno ospitato artisti internazionali tra cui Tobias., Basic Soul Unit, Oskar Offermann, Hiver e Inland, solo per citarne alcuni.
Non solo DJ, promoter, organizzatrice e direttrice musicale, Ocean è anche produttrice della sua musica, con pubblicazioni su Moteur Ville Musique (Detriot), Biotop Label (Berlino), WAPM e HK etichetta Typhoon 8 Records. Ocean Lam has built and cultivated with drive and passion over more than a decade to the underground scene and the music she loves in HK. Her sound is atmospheric, shifting moods and energies whichever way she sees fit.
Ocean has played at some major festivals and underground clubs in Asia, Epizode, Wonderfruit, Intro and Sonar HK and in Germany Melt and Feel Festival. She was tapped to represent Hong Kong at its first live edition of Boiler Room at Shi Fu Miz festival. Regularly played in Berlin, Milan as her annual Europe tour playing with international artists and label nights.
A leader of Hong Kong’s growing electronic music scene and a long-standing female maverick in the overall Asian scene, she was a Co-founder & Music Director of Social Room club in HK for 6 years. Her events hosted international artists including Tobias., Basic Soul Unit, Oskar Offermann, Hiver, and Inland, to name but a few.
Not just a DJ, promoter, organizer, and Music Director, Ocean is also a producer of her own music, with releases on Moteur Ville Musique (Detriot), Biotop Label (Berlin), WAPM and HK label Typhoon 8 Records. Guest mix invited by many international channels such as 6am Group, Mixmag Asia, Meoko, Serialism records and more.
