Honey harvesting time is right around the corner in East Aurora, and the beekeepers at Masterson’s want to invite you to come out and get sticky! The annual Honey Harvest Festival is taking place Saturday, October 11th at Masterson’s southtowns garden center. See firsthand how the honey moves from the beehives, located right on the garden center’s property, to the jars available on the shelf. Local beekeepers will be on hand to demonstrate the process, and you can even try your hand at spinning a few frames.Don’t miss the Honey Taste Contest, everyone's favorite part of the event. Taste samples of local honey submitted by beekeepers throughout WNY and vote for your favorite. If you think honey is just honey, then prepare to be surprised by the variation in color and flavor that each hive can produce!
It wouldn’t be the Honey Festival without some traditional honey treats, including a variety of meads, wines and beers as well as ice cream and honey-infused treats. Food and drink vendors will be joined by local artisans, showcasing a wide variety of handmade goods, from herbal remedies to cozy alpaca socks.
Plan to spend time tasting honey, watching demonstrations, even taking a free class or two! There will be lots of activities for the little ones as well. The Honey Harvest Festival is free and open to the public. More information and a schedule of events can be found on Masterson’s website, www.mastersons.net.
