New England’s South Shore has proven to be fertile ground for remarkable musical talent, producing artists like Ward Hayden and Sam Luke Chase, who have each carved distinctive paths in Americana and country-inspired music. Hayden, with his band The Outliers, has brought a rock 'n' roll kick to classic country traditions, earning critical acclaim and awards on both sides of the Atlantic while chronicling his life’s journey through his deeply personal ninth album, South Shore. Meanwhile, Chase, a Berklee College of Music graduate and accomplished singer-songwriter, channels influences like James Taylor and Marc Cohn into his self-produced albums, crafted entirely at home. Both artists embody the resilience and creativity of the New England music scene—Hayden with his high-energy, tradition-defying performances and Chase with his introspective storytelling and heartfelt reinterpretations of well-loved songs. Together, they represent the depth and diversity of talent thriving in the region’s Americana and roots music landscape.
