Hometown Christmas in Downtown Quitman. The event runs from 12-8pm with lots to do!
There will be food trucks and vendors open all day.
All activities are FREE to the public.
All day activities include a Skate Rink sponsored by Wood County Electric Co-op and Origin Bank, 9 Hole Mini Golf sponsored by Smith Builders, Bounce Houses for 10 year olds and under, Snow Globe photo booth (sponsorship available), Letters to Santa and Coloring Station run by the Quitman Pilots Club, and GameChanger Arcade Trailer.
The Parade (sponsorship available) starts at 5pm and will run from the HS to Downtown.
Following the Parade at the event area there will be the First Baptist Church live Nativity, petting zoo, popcorn, and cookie decorating as well as pictures with Santa.
This year there will be a Gingerbread House contest hosted and sponsored by Speakeasy Coffee House. Gingerbread Houses will be on display in the Speakeasy all day as the public votes for the best in three categories: under 10 years old, Griswold, and Classic. Winners will be announced at the end of the event at 8pm and will receive $100 each. To enter the contest, make your gingerbread house ahead of time and bring it to the Speakeasy at noon on event day.
Also this year will be our annual House and Business Decorating Contest hosted by Collison X. All homes and businesses in city limits will be judged on Dec 15. Winners in 6 categories will be announced by Dec 17 and received $100 ea: Reason for the Season, Classically Beautiful, Most Creative, Griswold/Brightest, Most Festive, and Storefront. If you are outside of the city limits but close to the city and wish to participate just call the chamber office or message us to be included.
Hometown Christmas events are offered free to everyone through the generous donations of our community members and businesses.
