Guests are invited out to Fort Jesup to learn how many of the items that we take for granted in the kitchen today were created in the 1800s. There will be a talk on items that were quite often historically considered cooking luxuries such as extracts, teas, and spices. Guests will learn how extracts were created, how herbs with gathered and processed for spices, and how teas were often made on the frontier, especially if you ran out of those store-bought items.
