📚 Homeschool Collective Field Trip: Royal Alberta Museum — Self-Guided Exploration
We’ve booked a self-guided field trip at the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) — a great chance for students to explore at their own pace with the support of parents and volunteers. This option lets families move through the galleries in whatever way fits their learner’s interests, ages, and projects.
✔ Suitable for Grades 2–12
(Pre-K and Grade 1 families are welcome — RAM has supports for younger learners too.)
💲 Cost:
• $6 per student
• Family rates available for families with multiple children
• Non-teacher parents & grandparents are welcome — standard RAM admission applies (please see RAM’s website for details)
⚠️ Limited Space:
We have room for 35 students total, so please register early.

One highlight during our visit is the feature exhibit:
🧳 Stories of Us: Building Alberta’s Collection
Collecting is something many of us do — ticket stubs, pressed flowers, souvenirs, little treasures that hold memories. RAM does the same, but on a much larger scale. This exhibit invites students to step into the mind of a curator and explore how the museum chooses objects that reflect Alberta’s identity.
How does a drum set, a horsefly, a llama foot, or a pair of sneakers tell the story of our province? How do curators preserve natural history, cultural history, and even the intangible things — movements, memories, moments in time?
Students will get a chance to explore all of this and consider what stories their own collected objects might tell.
Exhibit Dates: December 18, 2025 – February 7, 2027
Located in the Natural History Hall, South Gallery.
