introduction to Mixed MediaOverview
In this session, students will explore the exciting world of mixed media, where various materials and techniques come together to create dynamic and textured artworks. The class will focus on combining methods such as collage, gelli plate printing, and paper weaving. Additionally, students will create unique self-portraits inspired by the cutout styles of Picasso or Matisse, encouraging a blend of personal creativity and artistic influences.
Key Topics
Collage: Layering and combining found images, textures, and materials to create cohesive compositions.
Gelli Plate Printing: Using gelli plates to experiment with texture, pattern, and color in printmaking.
Paper Weaving: Crafting intricate designs by weaving strips of paper to create texture and depth.
Cutout Self-Portraits: Inspired by Picasso and Matisse, students will create expressive self-portraits using cutout shapes and bold colors.
