Schedule:
“What’s in that Train Car?” Workshop @ 10:30 AM
PreK- Grade 2
Step into the role of railroad workers and explore different train cars and learn what each one carries. Traveling from station to station, students will work to load their assigned car with the correct cargo — making learning a hands-on adventure!

“Technology Changes: Innovations in the Locomotive Design” Tour @ 10:30
Ages 3+
Explore the technological advancements to locomotive design that happened in B&O facilities like the Mount Clare Shops.
Mile One Express Train Ride @ 11 am
All ages
Take a train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad! Tickets can be purchased on site at the Museum.

“Artifact Exploration: Life During the Civil War” Workshop @ 2 pm
Ages 4+
Investigate a set of artifacts to uncover how soldiers, postal workers, children, freedom seekers, and abolitionists all connected through the railroad during the Civil War era — revealing powerful stories of conflict, courage, and change.
“Civil War: The War Came By Train” Tour @ 2:30 pm
Ages 4+
Uncover the story behind the first-time trains were used in warfare: the American Civil War.
