Calling all homeschool families! Join us for a special Homeschool Day, filled with hands-on learning and exploration! April 2nd, 2025: 10:00am - 3:00pm
This event offers a unique opportunity to dive into marine science, history, and interactive experiences designed just for homeschoolers. Enjoy story time with ocean-themed books, get up close with sea stars, urchins, and snails at our Discovery Pool touch tank, and meet horn sharks, round rays, and guitarfish in our Shark Touch Tank. Step aboard the historic tall ship Spirit of Dana Point to experience the life of an 1800s sailor, watch our husbandry team feed schooling fish, and meet a live snake while discovering its fascinating habits. Additional activities such as squid dissections, gold panning, and whale watching cruises are available for an extra fee. Don’t miss this exciting and educational day at the Ocean Institute, created especially for homeschool families!

This event will be similar to our weekend general admission hours, but with even more educational activities! Your ticket includes access to the following activities:
Storytime: Join us for educational story time with some of your favorite ocean stories!
Discovery Pool: come say hello to our sea stars, urchins, and snails in our Discovery Pool touch tank!
Shark Touch Tank: come say hello to our horn sharks, round rays, and guitarfish in our Shark Touch tank!
Sailor’s Life Tours: Step aboard our historic tall ship, the Spirit of Dana Point, and learn about the life of a sailor in the 1800s!
Schooling Fish Feeding: Watch as one of our husbandry staff member feeds our schooling fish and learn about these amazing animals!
Snake Talk: Meet one of our live snakes and learn about their habits!
