This carefully curated programme is a Triple Bill of three homegrown works. Auckland based Sarah Knox's beautiful work Last Time We Spoke to music by Rhian Sheehan, is an emotively accessible exploration of the Covid-19 experience that all of us navigated – audiences and artists alike.Loughlan Prior’s titular work Subtle Dances is described as “…exploding with swirls of hot tango and is saucy, spicy, dark and compelling”. This nuanced contemporary ballet from one of Aotearoa’s brightest choreographers is to the score of the same name by Claire Cowan which was commissioned by NZtrio.
In between these 2 signature works from BCA, is a new collaboration preference for reason created by Year 12 - 13 dance students from Tawa College, guided by creative director and dance educator Brigitte Knight, alongside educator Ellora Buttah and BCA artist’s Callum Phipps and Amelia Chandulal-Mackay. The music has been especially commissioned by BCA for this new creation, composed by BCA artist Kit Reilly.
