About this Event

Come discover the steps you can take to nurture and connect with wildlife right in your own backyard on Saturday, April 12, in a free public program and plant sale (by cash or check) at the Regional Park Lakeside Room in Auburn.

California is exceptionally unique in terms of its natural abundance—one of only 36 biodiversity hotspots globally. We enjoy more bird species than anywhere else in America! Our diverse array of bird species, other wildlife, and humans, depends on the roughly 30,000 insect species necessary to our food chain for a variety of ecosystem services.

Insects and Birds Need Native Plants

Insect and bird populations across California have significantly declined, and our local, state and federal lands are not adequate to sustain them. The good news is we each hold the power to reverse the trend toward ecosystem collapse. Our very survival depends on it.

Learn How Your Backyard Can Help

Each of us can fill a vital role in restoring California’s significant habitat loss. Come discover the steps you can take to nurture and connect with wildlife right in your own backyard at this free public program. Learn how to build your own Homegrown Habitat with recommendations for which native plant species will host the widest array of wildlife, where to find support, how to maximize your success, and more.
