"Homecoming was hilarious, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all in one. A must see!"

Dara is on the adventure of her life studying art in Australia when she gets that call-- her mom is dying, and she has to come home. How inconvenient! Their mother/daughter relationship was already difficult and now she’s dead. Well played, mom. You win.

What follows is a winding journey through the awkward, painful, unexpectedly hilarious process of finding yourself again after loss.

“Homecoming” is a darkly funny solo show about complicated grief, identity, and how losing your mom can really mess with your study abroad year (and the next 20 years after that).

So please: laugh, cry, or just sit there silently questioning your own life choices.

Fresh off of the show's NYC debut, this is what audience members are saying...

"Dara delivers an absolutely captivating performance in this beautifully written, deeply personal show. The exploration of grief, memory, and the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship is both intimate and universally relatable. Every word felt intentional — I was hanging on to each one. The hour flew by; I could have easily watched another. It’s rare to see something that feels so raw yet so carefully crafted. A moving and memorable experience."

"Beautiful, touching show. I laughed. I cried. I thought deeply. The show masterfully touched on heavy topics, striking just the right tone. I highly recommend the show to all."

"Everything about the show felt straight from the heart. I left feeling special for having received her story and having lived it with her. "

"GREAT show! Very funny, very moving, hopeful and inspiring."

Opening Act

Storyteller Becca Rothman will open with a performance of her funny and poignant solo show “Gifted”.

We spend our lives trying to figure out exactly who we are. Some things we get from our families, and some things are purely us, right? Join comedian and storyteller Becca on a journey about a surprise gift that changed everything as she knew it. This is a hilarious and gripping adventure about growing up and the mysteries that we discover - and sometimes even solve - along the way.

Rebecca Rothman (or Becca, when she’s onstage) is a Baltimore-born, Alabama-based storyteller, comedian, and producer. She hosts a monthly storytelling variety show in Birmingham, and her new solo show GIFTED just premiered at the Neurotica Festival in New York City. She was recently in LA this summer for the Laugh Riot Grrl festival and is thrilled to be back so soon! Becca is grateful to Dara to be included in this show.
