About this Event
The laughter is coming to North Syracuse when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at McGraw Box Brewing Co. on Friday, Aug. 9. Rick Matthews is headlining the show and Kyle Turner is joining host Mike Peters.
The show starts at 7 p.m., but get there early to get some drinks. It's a free show, so tip the staff super well. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m.
About the comedians:
Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast.
Kyle Turner is a stand-up comedian from Buffalo, N.Y. He’s performed at clubs all over the country and recently at Laugh Fest. He’s a regular at the Helium Comedy Club and has opened for Dave Attell, Annie Lederman, Charlie Murphy, Dan Soder and Mark Normand.
Rick Matthews was raised in a small farm town south of Buffalo, but has a point of view that differs from those usually bred from small-town life. He uses the audience as his own personal therapy session, working out the issues that keep him up at night, all for their enjoyment. He has earned himself a reputation in the comedy community as an every-man with an edge; a nice guy with a dark side; and a fat guy with a stain on his shirt. Matthews won Buffalo’s Funniest Person Contest in 2014 and performed at the Asheville Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, Gilda Radner’s Laff Fest and the Laugh Your Ashville Off Comedy Festival. He recorded his debut album, This Is Where I Lose You, in 2018.
