About this Event

Florida Naturalist Explorer!

Wed. March 23, 2022 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

How do plants and animals get “discovered” and named? We will learn about a few great explorers who came to Florida as we imagine what Florida would have been like when they arrived. How did they study the plants and animals they saw? With notebooks you will make, we will explore Leu Gardens as though we are the first ones who have ever been here. You will sketch pictures and write notes about nature that you “discover”.

Home School classes are priced for one adult and up to two children to attend. This class is primarily geared for 8 to 12 year olds.  (Younger children may attend but the parent should be prepared to help them with certain activities.)

Instructor:  Sandi Linn, Education Supervisor.

Prior to working at Leu Gardens, Sandi was the Director of Education at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, and then the Curator of Education at the Orange County Regional History Center.   She is the author of Invasive Species, a YA fictional novel incorporating real environmental concepts.
