In addition to our ongoing efforts to reduce plastic consumption and pollution, our group is widening its focus to include other environmental action. We’ll be posting about our new biodiversity group soon. Meanwhile, all our members either have an electric car or have installed air-source heat pumps and/or solar PV systems in their homes. We think there are quite a few folk in the Bay who are considering these technologies but are unsure about how they work or whether they’d be right for them. So we’re organising an informal evening session where anyone who’d like to hear about how home renewables work in practice can come and chat to local people who have firsthand experience of them. We’ve no agenda to sell anything or promote any particular suppliers, we’ll simply be there to share our experience and answer your questions. The focus won’t be on the availability of grants, since this information can easily be obtained from Home Energy Scotland. Instead, we’ll be talking about the practicalities and cost implications of installing and running these technologies in your home.
We’ll be meeting in the large meeting room at Louie Brown’s at 19.45 p.m. on Sunday 21st September, though we may move across to the deli if a lot of people show up.
Hope to see you there!
