You are invited to Art Center for an evening of art and music. Artwork by Leaphe Ferm will be on display, accompanied with ambient music by James M Keegan at 6:30pm, followed by a live performance of the artist's band Garden of Evil Doers at 7:30pm.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Home Paradox
How does one find home in an ever-changing reality? This series of paintings touches on the beauty and the horrors of shifting worlds: flash floods, a garden in bloom, displacement, community, a loss of rights, a finding of home. Leaphe puts these fears and dreams to paint using vibrant colors and swirling impressionist style, highlighting the ephemeral nature of the world we’re living in today.
These paintings begin in 2019 and have been worked on incrementally up until this year. They follow Leaphe as they explore their gender expression, move to 4 different states, gain and lose love, jobs, and friends. These paintings moved with them and reflect the loss of home and finding of home that comes with each of these changes, and the many more going on in the news and world around them.
The opening night will be accompanied with ambient music by James M Keegan at 6:30,followed by a live performance of the artist's band Garden of Evil Doers at 7:30, featuring puppets and set designed by Leaphe and friends. The connection of music and art will invite us to consider where we are, with the hopes to come out the other side, steadfast and comforted in community.
