Home Movie Day at the French Legation State Historic Site

Home Movie Day, a worldwide celebration of amateur filmmaking, comes to the Historic French Legation on Saturday, October 14, and it can’t happen without you! Bring YOUR VHS tapes to screen on the lawn. Please arrive early to cue up a segment for the screening. Don’t have home movies? Just come and enjoy the show! Screening will begin at sundown (approximately 7:30 p.m.). The French Legation is located in East Austin at 802 San Marcos Street.

TAMI will also be on-site collecting videotapes and film for its Texas Film Round-Up free digitization program, a partnership with the Texas Film Commission. Part public service and part public history project, the Round-Up provides free digitization in exchange for the donation of a digital copy of the materials to the archive project. A curated selection of materials from the event will be added to TAMI’s ever-growing collection available for viewing at TexasArchive.org.
