Join us for a relaxed morning discovering artefacts and practices around ancient Egyptian burials.After a short introduction to the subject, you will be able to take part in sessions led by our group leaders. The first will allow you to handle real ancient Egyptian artefacts and use questioning to discover what they can tell you about the people who owned them. The second session will take you through the steps to mummify one of your family members.
Activities to take part in at your own pace include heiroglyph writing with reed pens and ink, creating tomb pictures showing scenes from someone's life, and making a shabti doll to take home.
Please arrive at 9.30am for a 9.45am start. On arrival you will be able to sign up for the group leader-led sessions, which last around 30 minutes each.
Suitable for children aged 6- 11 years (Key Stage 2 equivalent).
Children aged 6 and over require a participating ticket. Please also book a free ticket for adults and non participating children so we know how many people to expect on site.
£8.50 +booking fee for each participating child.
Accessbility
Some activites will take place on the first floor, which can only be accessed by stairs.
Step-free access is available to the ground floor.
