About this Event
Midland Co., a local Iowa business dedicated to raising responsibly sourced, delicious, and nutritious shrimp, will take the mystery out of cooking shrimp. In this engaging, demonstration-style class, you’ll learn how to confidently buy, store, thaw, and peel shrimp, along with simple, reliable techniques for cooking them well at home. After a brief educational overview, the instructor will demonstrate these skills in action by preparing shrimp scampi—a quick, approachable dish that feels elevated without being complicated. You’ll leave with practical knowledge, helpful tips, and the confidence to cook shrimp successfully in your own kitchen.
Meet the Instructor!
Sarah Kimle is originally from rural New Hampshire and chose a career in agriculture because of her love of food, gaining early experience working on small, diversified farm operations before studying at Iowa State University. Her career has centered on agricultural business and community impact, including work with Lutheran Services of Iowa’s Global Greens program, where she helped refugees build and manage their own farm operations. For the past six years, she has worked alongside her husband Jackson to grow Midland Co., leading marketing and sales while connecting with local Iowans to encourage a love of seafood and make shrimp an approachable part of everyday meals.
