Studies over the last few years indicate that more children are being left home alone for short periods of time. Deciding when children are mature enough to be at home on their own is an important judgment for parents to make.
The Canada Safety Council recommends 10 years of age as a minimum... but based on a child's maturity, they may not be ready until they are older as every child's development is unique.
This Home Alone Program is designed to prepare children to look after themselves for a short period of time. It helps them to understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations and keep them safe!
This class is facilitated by a fully trained Canadian Safety Council educator.
