Home Adventures Premiere

The Home Adventures project presents two films created by young people from North Tyneside and Northumberland, inspired by their experience of home and the North East.

Over the last seven months, 50 young adventurers from North Tyneside and Northumberland have set off to explore the region they call home. Along the way, they have worked with folk musicians, puppeteers, filmmakers, scientists, visual artists and historians, to explore a host of different locations throughout the North East.

Inspired by the Northumberland Dark Sky Park, they have travelled back in time to the Big Bang, and learned about our expanding universe, black holes and the constellations of the night sky. They have travelled along Hadrian’s Wall, met a Roman soldier and listened to the call of the curlew, whose song has been a constant over the last 2000 years. They have visited Northumbria University to try their hand at game development - one of the biggest and fastest growing industries of the North East.

Our young adventurers have also considered their own experiences of home. They have discussed what home is, what it means to them and where it could be.

The result of their adventures is premiered in two films on July 10th, 7pm. These films have been researched, written and created by our young adventurers, and encapsulate their explorations, their learning and their personal thoughts about home.
