To celebrate its recent release, we are holding a fundraiser for the distribution of Teiti Nepia's debut documentary
About this Event

HOME a feeling of belonging is a short documentary about homelessness in Aotearoa from the perspective of a 56 year old Mana Wahine. We follow Teiti as she exercises her rights as a responsible freedom camper. Peacefully resisting the high cost of living and unsustainable market rents by living outside with strength and dignity. Teiti shares her love of being outdoors under the sun, moon and stars where she feels closest to her tipuna/ancestors long passed. Shot over five months during the summer featuring the stunning South Coast beaches and suburban gardens of Pōneke.

The HOME project began as Teiti, a Māna Wāhine and art activist, found herself living outdoors resisting the high cost of rent in Aotearoa. HOME is an account of Teitis journey and explores a different side to homelessness that is often misinterpreted or ignored. New Zealand has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the developed world, and the unfortunate reality is that Māori women are disproportionately likely to be homeless. HOME sheds a light on the hidden struggles of homeless women in Aotearoa.

The evening will consist of an intimate screening of the 30 minute documentary, words from the filmmakers, guests, a Q&A Session, and mini art exhibition.

This event is run with the support of The Wellington Women's House and Vogelmorn Bowling Club.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards covering the distribution costs of the film HOME a feeling of belonging.
