General Public:
The Holy of Holies Art Show was birthed out of a vision to create a divine space featuring solely trans, intersex & non-binary artists.
Historically, in many cultures, gender-diverse individuals have been associated with the divine. Our divinity does not come from an outward source; it comes from within and from our own experiences. Whether or not we consider ourselves spiritual or religious, everything we do is divine. This show will give viewers an opportunity to see what it means to be trans, intersex and non-binary, surviving and thriving in The Bible Belt. Many of us have had traumatic experiences with organized religion; this show is meant to take back the spiritual and physical space that history has tried to erase from us. As divine beings, this show is an offering to our trans and non-binary ancestors. May we live, thrive and honor them.
Artist Submission Info:
Art Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 20th before Midnight
Art Drop-Off Begins: Tuesday, July 20th 3 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Opening Night: Friday, July 30th from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. (Timeline of Events will be sent out July 25th)
Art will be on display starting July 30th and 31st unless it is sold or the artist prefers to take it home at the end of the night on July 30th.
Artists are responsible for selling their art, collecting the funds from the person purchasing as well as coordinating a pick up time with said person. We will provide labels and stickers for sold pieces. If you need a table to sell merch or an easel please specify under ‘Art Specifications and Additional Information’ on the Artist Submission Form.
1810 Ojeman will not be taking any commission or portion of funds from any art sold. They only ask that if you want to leave your art up past August 1st, you will need to provide a way for folx to contact you to purchase your art (i.e. business card with email or social media handle.)
Artists may submit up to four (4) .jpeg/.jpg images. All accepted work must be dry and ready to hang or display. Artwork must be original and fit the theme of the show; any plagiarized pieces will be disqualified. Please note that this is a curated show. Some submitted artwork and poetry may not be chosen.
POETRY SUBMISSION INFO: Poem content must fit the theme of the show and must not be excessively explicit or vulgar. Any plagiarized material will be disqualified.
*NOTE: Artwork must not contain any bodily fluids. If using loose glitter or confetti, the mediums must be completely adhered and sealed to the substrate in a manner that it will not fall off.*
