About this Event
Join us for an evocative evening of contemporary dance featuring two new works that explore the intricate webs of connection — between bodies, ideas, and worlds.
HOLOBIONT
Choreography by Lucy Rupert
Performed by Juan Villegas and Lucy Rupert
Inspired by evolutionary biologist Lynn Margulis’s concept of the holobiont — the intimate interdependence of multiple organisms forming a single ecological entity — this ever-evolving work investigates the deep interconnections that shape life. Drawing on research into migratory birds, quantum flux, neurological degeneration, and forest ecology, HOLOBIONT shifts and adapts with each performance. This iteration, a duet, embodies the fluid boundaries between individuality and unity, self and system.
The Space Between Us
Choreography by Martha Hart
Performed by Tyler Gledhill, Martha Hart, Chelly Li and Sophie Willett
Four dancers traverse two distinct worlds — two duets born from contrasting soundscapes, textures, and emotional terrains. As these parallel choreographies begin to intersect, boundaries blur and new relationships emerge. The Space Between Us explores the subtle negotiations of closeness and distance, harmony and dissonance, revealing how connection transforms us and how difference can become dialogue.
Through these two works, the evening invites audiences to witness the delicate architectures of interdependence — between dancers, environments, and the unseen forces that bind us all.
