In this 1.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided, along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.
About This Class
This class is for the beginner cookier, the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about, or someone wanting to improve their skills! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be decorating a set of 6 Christmas themed cookies as we dig into all things sugar cookies!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
This class is on 12/15/2024 and starts at 10:30am sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 25 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class is good for ages, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
The class will be held in the business park, right behind Gino's at 8600 LaSalle Rd. Suite 212. The building will say "The Carroll Building". Don't believe everything your GPS tells you, it is the building directly behind Gino's! Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy, there are loads of spaces!
Things to Bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here are the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re working with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – we'll definitely be asking where you got it).
Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
Bring your phone! We love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
About Cookie Canvas Classes
Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Cookie Canvas Classes is all about!
A little about us – we (Ashley and Kelli) have been friends for over a decade! Ashley started baking sugar cookies in 2017, Kelli was slow to join the fun and started in 2022. Neither of us has put down a scribe since we started (don’t know what a scribe is? We’ll teach you in class!). Kelli loves decorating adorable seasonal designs, and Ashley loves hand painting cookies...but we can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. We love what we do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - we have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our email list so you can get in on the cookie action!
DIY / Add-On Kits
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.

If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either.
