It's Sweet and Sour night at the Red Barn!!Peoria besties and musical opposites Sweet Cheeks and Hollow Down are meeting up Saturday November 16 at one of our long time favorite places, Peoria's own Red Barn for a night of eclectic original and cover music. It's gonna be a hoot. We'll be bringing out best Jimmy Buffett tunes in honor of Buffalo Dan. See you there at 8pm!
Sweet cheeks are quite literally musical darlings. Their infectious energy is enveloped in well arranged, lovely jams spanning the American Songbook and unique originals. Fronted by Emily Williams and Sarah Klemm, the band is rounded out by the stellar lineup of Evan Stumpges, Chris Skierski, and Max Kamm. Prepare to smile from cheek to cheek.
Hollow Down lives somewhere in the ether between light and dark. Once described "as if Tom Waits took acid and played bluegrass with a punk band", the band has seen multiple versions and lineups, always with an ear towards something not quite definable. At turns haunting, uplifting, and energizing, Hollow Down is not afraid to go wherever the wind takes them. Currently the powerhouse duo of Perry Brubaker on upright bass and Jon Howard on guitar, it is surprising to witness the full sound created by these two guys on acoustic instruments. With their most recent single release "Harvest", featuring Sarah Neczwid on drums, the band is boldy going forward in new and unexpected directions. Stay tuned.
