Now in its second year, this powerful program returns to the Davenport House Museum in partnership with Patt Gunn and Underground Tours of Savannah. Featuring the soulful “Saltwata Players,” this special program delves into what Christmas would have been like for the enslaved workers who resided in the home during the 1820s. Through engaging and immersive interpretation, guests will explore holiday traditions expressed through song, dance, foodways, and spirituality. This unique, thought-provoking tour offers a deeper understanding of the holiday season at the Davenport House, shedding light on the often-overlooked stories of the enslaved community. Join us for an experience that will leave you with a richer, more nuanced perspective on the meaning of the holidays for the downtown urban enslaved community.
Tickets are priced at $50 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.
Tours are scheduled on Friday, December 26 and Saturday, December 27 at 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm, and 5:30pm.
