About this Event
Celebrate the holidays in Los Angeles with a hands-on Japanese floral design and aesthetics workshop led by Mitsuko Osuga, owner and chief designer of Mitsuko Floral in Torrance, California. With over 30 years of professional experience in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles, Ms. Osuga is a well-respected floral designer known for her mastery of ikebana, wabi-sabi, and Japanese-inspired floral artistry—a favorite among JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles attendees.
This immersive holiday floral workshop in Los Angeles introduces the Japanese principles of seasonality, harmony, and simplicity, showing how they bring elegance and mindfulness to holiday décor and celebrations. Participants will explore the fusion of Japanese and Western floral design, creating arrangements that highlight asymmetry, natural movement, and the beauty of negative space. Through Japanese-inspired materials, guests will experience the wabi-sabi philosophy, discovering beauty in nature and imperfection.
The session also includes a creative activity using washi paper, kumihimo cords, and mizuhiki to stylishly wrap vases, adding a touch of Japanese elegance to floral displays.
Perfect for floral enthusiasts, design lovers, and anyone looking for creative holiday events in Los Angeles, this workshop offers a memorable, festive, and culturally rich experience that beautifully connects Japanese artistry with the holiday season in LA.
Both sessions will offer the same workshop.
