Come along to the library and join us for the first ever Holiday Hive Construction Club!Q: What happens at Construction Club?
A: Children of all ages get to explore creative builds using different construction tools and materials.
Construction Club may challenge your child’s problem solving skills, encourage them in teamwork activities or simply stimulate them physically and mentally when inspired to build large scale dens, the strongest structures, or the tallest towers or build something small with a specific purpose.
Examples include using metal components, nuts and bolts to construct vehicles and robots, or toy bricks to build buildings and other structures. Sticks, straws and dough may be used to construct small creations or junk modelling and other recyclable materials to build large projects.
Themes, challenges and materials will vary across the different sessions.
Taking creations home will depend on the nature of the activity and the materials used.
Some sessions may be age restricted and/or exclusive to library members, and/or bookable. Check the details of each event to be sure.
Library members may receive certificates of completion for different components used or challenges completed.
Event Details:
This week’s Construction Club activity is Halloween themed! Children are invited to listen to spooky stories before taking on a group project where we will be designing and building a Halloween inspired SPOOKY TOWN.
This a floor level activity involving drawing a town map on giant sheets of paper and using construction bricks to create 3D buildings and structures. Children can let their imaginations run wild, working individually on their own little section of the map or by working together as part of a community build.
Colour and cut Halloween themed characters inspired by our spooky stories, to live and work in Spooky Town and even decorate a Monster Door to take home.
This activity is a FREE drop-in session, with no need to book, open to library members, non-members and to all ages.
