Come join John Agacki as he performs Scandinavian music and Christmas songs in Finnish, Swedish, and English. You will also enjoy original Scandinavian-influenced instrumentals and a musical surprise or two.John grew up hearing Finnish and Swedish music sung, performed, or danced to. Finnish was spoken by all the relatives on his mother’s side. In fact, he was the founding editor of the English newspaper “The Finnish American Reporter” in Superior
in 1986. It is currently published in Houghton, Michigan.
While in Stockholm in 2012, Swedish composer, Gunnar Edander asked him to join his ensemble for the American tour of “Helluva Guy“, a musical based on the life of Swedish author August Strindberg. Locally, John has been a regular performer at
Julebyen Scandinavian Festival in Knife River, MN. He also performed at the Duluth Staemmen Scandinavian festival in 2023, accompanying violin virtuoso and artist Sara Pajunen on the guitar. In 2024 he was on the stage as a solo performer performing Swedish and Finnish songs, as well as Scandinavian-influenced guitar instrumentals.
John’s music ranges from folk and Americana to country and semi-classical. Singles and albums of Christmas, Americana, Country, sea shanties, piano, guitar instrumentals, as well as Celtic music are in the works. His debut album of original music “A Little Music On the Rocks” and Celtic release “A Little Shamrock Music” have been on the radio, tv or in theater.
