HOLD YOUR METAPHORS ACCOUNTABLE : The debut poetry collection by Writer in Residence of the Portico Library, Ab Parcell.
The collection will explore Butch identity, culture and testimony. The event will be part interview, panel discussion and Q&A and part Open Mic!
About the Author:
Ab Parcell is a Butch neurodivergent poet and academic from South Wales. Nowadays she resides in Manchester and is due to complete a PhD in Hybrid Autofiction at The University of Salford. She is the Writer in residency at the Portico Library in Manchester and is working to “challenge” the collection through the queering of the collection.
Her work explores themes of identity, place, trauma and testimony. Her experimental practice of “hybrid autofiction” shines through in her raw debut.
About the Artist:
Maria rose wilson is an artist, writer, poet and educator. She has worked in many mediums from installation and video to drawing and collage: always using both image and narrative.
Much of her early work was collaborative working as an artist with schools, groups within the community or the general public.
Both with her personal work and her work within the community her preoccupations were with the interplay between representation, language and memory, often with an emphasis on place. And the part they play in the construction of 'truth'.
She worked pt for 15 years in Learning in the National Museum of Wales. She has exhibited both in Wales and Internationally.
