Join Sunningwell School of Art during the Abingdon Heritage Weekend. The school will offer free ‘architecture’ themed ‘Creative Nurture’ workshop using pre-made stencils of iconic Abingdon buildings to create individual and groups artworks.Art school tutors and staff will be leading free architecturally focused ‘make it and take it home’ workshops for adults and young people aged 5 years and up (under 14s to be accompanied by an adult).
By participating in the Abingdon Heritage Weekend Festival the school aims to break down barriers for engaging with the arts and raise awareness about how creativity promotes positive mental health and improved wellbeing in individuals and communities.
‘Architecture’ is the theme of the Heritage Open Days 2025 and participants in the workshop will use pre-made stencils of iconic Abingdon buildings to create individual 3 dimensional artworks from recycled tetrapaks. The tutors are experienced in working within a variety of educational and cultural settings, and with young people who have additional educational needs. Participants will be able to use a range of mixed media and learn simple techniques to help them complete their artwork.
The workshops will run from 11:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of September on a drop-in / available seats basis so no pre-booking is required. Parents or guardians can work on their own project while assisting their child/children during the workshop, so come along and have some fun!
Workshops are being held at Abingdon County Hall Museum, between 11.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th Septemeber.
