www.into-the-shadows.co.ukThis event is open to persons of age 16 and over however all 16 and 17 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult eg. parent/carer/guardian.
Shrewsbury Prison, also known as The Dana, was completed in 1793.
Shrewsbury’s last public hanging was on April 11th 1863 when 30-year-old Edward Cooper was executed for murder. From 1902-1961 there were eight executions at Shrewsbury Prison. On the 9 February 1961, 21-year-old George Riley was executed by hanging for the murder of a 62-year-old woman. This would be the last execution to take place at Shrewsbury Prison before this form of capital punishment was abolished in 1969. The prison has now been decommissioned however the spirits of those long since passed prisoners still remain.
From the foreboding A and C wings to the original hanging room and so much more awaits, do you dare enter this former place of correction and subject yourself to the true horror of life behind bars?
Reported ghostly activity ranges from full body apparitions seen wandering the landings of the wings to slammed cell doors, people reporting being touched and pushed to the whispers and singing of long gone residents of this 17th century prison.
Do you dare join us as we go into the shadows at Shrewsbury prison.
