Hmong 50 Festival Creates Space for Unique celebration of Hmong Culture
St. Paul - Hmong 50 Festival is a landmark celebration of the 50 year journey of the Hmong American community and their transition to becoming Americans. Hosted by Center for Hmong Arts and Talent and Steve Thao Productions this festival is a heartfelt thank you to America and the resiliency of the Hmong elders and veterans who brought the Hmong community here.
Why this festival is special
This is a cultural celebration honoring the Hmong culture through music dance cuisine and storytelling.
The festival embodies the spirit of the melting pot of America and how each fiber of difference and diversity is important and beautiful in their own way. We celebrate to honor our past look to the future and strengthen connections with the younger generation and other communities. This chapter of the Hmong American story is one of the many stories that validate the American dream.
Event Highlights:
On the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol the festival opens Saturday morning with invited public officials- transitioning to youth and legendary singers and performers. Delicious foods by small business owners. Photo opp with signage of all 18 Hmong clans. Sunday has an amazing fashion show from many of the most talented Hmong designers. There will be a demonstration of Sepak Takraw and many artisan and craftmaking merchants with Hmong inspired products.
