DEC 6 | 7PM | MARNIE (1964)
Sexual repression, blackmail, and M**der are at the heart of Hitchcock’s most controversial movie, rejected by audiences in 1964 but later hailed by many critics as an overlooked masterpiece. Marnie Edgar is a beautiful thief (Tippi Hedren) who picks the wrong target in businessman Mark Rutland (Sean Connery, at the peak of his James Bond fame). Rutland catches Marnie mid-theft, traps her in a relationship—then tries to solve the mystery of what drives her criminal impulses. MARNIE’s added attractions include a full-blooded score by Bernard Herrmann, and a scene-stealing performance by Diane Baker as a rival for Mark’s affections. And we guarantee a lively post-screening discussion!
