History of the Downtown Mall Walking Tour

Take a casual eight block walk around Charlottesville’s historic pedestrian Downtown Mall. Surrounded by original buildings, discover the local history of three important Presidents, learn about the development and expansion of local businesses along Main Street before and after the Civil War, and finish with stories of the growth of a lively restaurant, theater and live music scene. There is local history on every corner!

Tour begins outside the Ting Pavilion at the East end of the Downtown Mall.

- This is a 60-minute guided walking tour.

- This tour involves less than one mile of walking, but does include stairs, standing, and inclines. Please be advised that there will not always be seating available at stops on the tour and that the tour route may not be accessible for guests in mobility devices.

- Tours run rain or shine, but may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather when conditions are dangerous for guests and tour guides.

- This ticket is non-refundable and non-transferable.
