The Iberian Peninsula defines the westernmost edge of Eurasia. The dual history of modern Portugal and Spain is as intertwined with Europe as with Carthage, Islamic caliphates, and the centre of global empires.
In this course we will explore the interlaced history of the Iberian twins through their birth, cooperation, competition and convoluted relationship - in particular in part 2 we will consider discovering the world, the rise and fall of Iberian global empires, colonization and decolonization, as well as the various dictatorships and republics up to the modern day.
