This seminar focuses on the Chapel of St Francis in the building now known as the Kalenderhane Mosque in Istanbul, formerly Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire.

Dr. Jessica Varsallona, PhD in Byzantine Studies, teaches Medieval and Byzantine Art. Now a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at Edinburgh, she’s researching Late Byzantine Architecture and authoring a monograph on Constantinople.
