DEMONSTRATION OF CHOCOLATE MAKING IN EARLY AMERICA
On Sunday, March 23, the Varnum House Museum will host two immersive 18th-century chocolate making demonstrations put on by The Pewter Pot Fine Spiced Chocolates. Discover the secrets of how chocolate was made and enjoyed centuries ago! The Varnum House Museum is the perfect backdrop for a historic chocolate making adventure. At this event, skilled chocolatiers in period attire will guide you through the traditional techniques used in the 1700s.
In addition to the demonstration, The Pewter Pot will have a wide range of chocolates, sweets, and other chocolate products available for sale. Looking for a last-minute Valentine's Day gift for that special someone? We've got you covered!

OPEN-HOUSE TOURS OF THE VARNUM HOUSE
March 23 won't be all about chocolate! The Varnum House Museum will be open to the public for tours from 11 AM to 3:00 PM. Explore the Varnum House Museum where each room tells a story about life in the 18th century, particularly in Rhode Island. Our collection of artifacts and exhibits provides a fascinating glimpse into the culture of the 18th century and the life of the man who built the house, General James Mitchell Varnum!
Touring the museum during the open house is free, but donations are greatly appreciated!

Open-house tours do not include a seat at the chocolate-making demo, but you can still buy chocolate!
