David Benscoter will present his book "Lost Apples" and the Lost App Project.wiki, a project to recover heritage varieties of apples from 100 or more years ago that may survive on local agricultural properties. An astonishing number of apple varieties were developed and cultivated in the Pacific Northwest, with more than 1,600 known cultivars documented in historical records. Mr. Benscoter has recovered at least 30 formerly "lost" apples in the Inland Northwest, and he continues to search for more that may still survive. Mr. Benscoter will provide information about his "LostApples.wiki" website where individuals can submit information about lost apple varieties that may contribute to Lost Apple research. Mr. Bonscoter's book "Lost Apples" is available from Keokee Publishing, Keokee.com.
